I made it through maybe 10 items at a glance and left. $1.10 or not. I'm just not feeling it at all.
@daveso Oh I'm with you on not feeling it. I guess I'm in the denial stage of grief still. However for those of us who build big scenes some of this old stuff, at lets face it Vault prices, is keeping me at least coming back to the site.
The reality though as things stand is I'll be buying twice a month from now on, unless it changes. Those 2 times will be to use each coupon (spending approx $18 a time to get the max discount), and only if the items in the cart are 58%+ off in the first place.
I came, I saw, I yawned, I left ;)
There are few good deal today. Arbor Mortis is a steal for 2 bucks. Grovebook Park is a good deal too. I, of course, already have them; bought them when new releases had a better discount. Maybe i'll pick up some of the current new releases this time next year.
Pretty poor show when the only sale items causing interest are old V4/M4 clothes. I have a ton of those from the days when V4 was current and I never use any now. Clothing converters? I bought them and tried but just too many issues. Easier to buy G8 clothes for G8 when they are at a reasonable discount. In fact I'm considering the best way to remove all that old stuff from my library although some of the props come in handy and can actually be modified to work with IRay, etc.
So I just got a notification from the DAZ Deals browser emails that an item I forgot to check out with from the Grab Bag a couple of days ago is now even cheaper. And I think a few other items from the Grab Bags were also on the list for less than $4.99. So this sale is getting even weirder.
Maybe it's not going as well as hoped and they are messing with the deals. Maybe it will get better and better and end with a fantastic weekend of bargains. Or maybe not.
Because $4.99 is too high a price point to be considered "big bargain" on less expensive items. It only really works on bundles and high-dollar items, but there are very few of those on display.
Actually I just purchased two items that I know were in recent grab bags for 75% off and are now 84% off. I’m pretty sure the other items in the email were in the grab bags too. But I don’t see these new prices advertised anywhere or if they’re a glitch. I wouldn’t have known except for the email.
In my opinion this looks like is the new normal unless it turns out non-profitable for DAZ. Time will tell.
I got in to Daz back in mid-2020, and the sales were absolutely amazing! It programmed me to check the store daily. I ended up buying way too many items that I would never use. But, I expanded my 3D library very quickly and now have more than enough items to keep me busy for years! I still have 5-600 items on my wishlist, but man....the sales have stunk since the Black Friday/Christmas sales of 2020. Pro bundles for 97% off was great. I bought a ton of them and still haven't used them....but they are available if I ever choose to, and it's free money for Daz Studios that they wouldn't have gotten without the sale.
Unfortunetly, due to the underwhelming sales ever since 2020, I have become much more frugal and only buy items I absolutely MUST have. Which, to be honest, have been few and far between. It seems like many items lately tend to cater to specific interests....just not mine. The quality also seems to be lacking and repetitive.... At this point I only use one of my $6 PC coupons. I've also canceled my PC+ membership, as I went from spending $$hundreds every month to now almost nothing....buying from other sites instead. I also catch myself rolling my eyes when I do log in to see the "sales". Even the Flash sales are laughable.
I don't know what exactly changed with Daz Studios, but I don't like it.
I just purchased four more items for a total of less than $9.00, averaging about 86% off each. I think they were all in recent grab bags. This seems to be some sort of hidden sale that I only discovered through the DAZ Deals emails. I kept finding new things I would not have purchased at the original grab bag price, (and did not) but at these new prices that may or may not be glitches, DAZ got money from me that they never would have gotten even at the $4.99 price. So I can’t tell if it’s a glitch or a weird marketing experiment.
I just bought 3 items that way, too.
I picked up a gift card that would in previous years have barely carried me through March Madness. This year it may carry me through the PA Appreciation Sale. This is partly a price/discount issue but more a combination of items I have no use for, no interest in, or seem to be poorly thought out. And the continuing trend of trying to foster the conceps of "collectable" items - the zodiac sets, the kinght sets; I purchase things here to make what I call art. Not very good art, admittedly, but it satisfies my creative urges and keeps me off the streets and out of the bars at night. (Frankly, I would have spent a great deal less in bars over the years).
I spent 5 minutes and $2.80 today.
Wouldn't have noticed that if you haven't mentioned it, tyvm![cheeky cheeky](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tongue_smile.png)
The price drops even more when I put more items in the cart
Just bought some iSourceTextures figures for around $3 each![laugh laugh](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/teeth_smile.png)
Agreed. I think it's probably experimentation, and what works best for them in terms of profits will be what we end up with.
Today, we seem to be back on 30% and some "previously mad" items previously sold at 20% discount are now 30% off, so we're basically back to the "madness" sale that existed month in, month out until a few weeks back, other than the multi-buy element which gets you 40%. I have to question whether March Madness, a hugely anticipated event, was the right time to start (effectively) raising prices. Maybe it didn't work, hence the changes today.
The thing is, people aren't stupid. Just because you call it a sale, doesn't mean it is one. And people can remember the prices from a couple of months back! But it's an improvement anyway![smiley smiley](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/regular_smile.png)
Might have been a - super-rare - glitch maybe. Yesterday some products like https://www.daz3d.com/fg-comfy-bedroom were showing 78% in the listings and even more in cart. Bought a few products that way, all around $1-$3 including the Ronin outfit which was a $4,99 grab bag a few days ago. Classic impulse buy. None of those products was on my wishlist. Today the Grab Bag is $3,99 or $2,99 for 10+ items. No impulse buy for me. Don't know why DAZ marketing is not understanding that heavy buy-ins prevent folks from buying a thing whereas deep discounts on older stuff make the collectors go crazy. Well anyway, $30 from my store credit gone. Much more than through the initial week of the MM sale.
Also got a banner today for a 70% Personal discount on one DAZ original for owning all of the Key Items. That's new. But the no-stack disclaimer again destroys the fun. It's basically make one (quite old) DAZ original a regular FastGrab item. No thanks.
Well, they are getting closer but still not there. I would have purchased several grab bag items for $2.99 but I don’t need 10 items. So I guess I’m not getting any. If they had said 4+ fine. But 10 when many of those items have already been $1.99 and we already own them?
Marketing tries to manipulate us but really we, the consumers, have the power. We just don’t buy unless the price works for us.
I wouldn't mind the 10+ buy-in as long as the selection wasn't so limited. Previous MMs had 10+ pages of items. Today I can barely find 3 items I want, and even those I'd mostly get for the price.
+1
...as I recall that was the case with the Post Apocalyptic Zone and Cyberpunk Subway Station. Two items I took off my wishlist when I read about them as I am still on legacy tech. Not about to try and reduce all those texture files. to something more manageable.
Everything seems to be geared towards multiple purchases. That seems the strategy. I guess people didn't go for March Madness meaning "have what you had every month in the past as long as you buy more than one thing" hence the intro prices changing today.
The grab bag is more multi-buy stuff. But how many people are going to want 10% of a completely random selection of items, many of which are very old?
And of people don't feel they can get the best discount, many will skip it altogether i would suggest.
Well $2.99 each for 10 items is a start eh? Perhaps DAZ are listening. Perhaps sales were slow.
We still have 2/3rds of the month left for things to get a bit crazy, some might even dare to say .... mad!
I've got and orange band today "Your Own Personal Bonus" 70% off select items because I already own today's bonus mad item.
So I spotted a wishlist item in the list. Added to basket, added bonus code, checked price and it's higher than when it was on sale last week. It's the wrong kind of madness.
Yes, it took me by surprise. Too early to tell their course, but if they reverted their decision, it may be that they weren't selling much. Also, I hope that any person that purchased those items at 20% off get a reimbursement for the updated discount of 30%. Makes me wonder if I should have waited for a better GC discount than the lame 15% off I got.
...I've been doing that a lot lately.
I believe so far I've spent a grand total of 23.95$ and it is all on Daz+ and grab bag items. (5 total).
As I don't use much G8 and no 81. stuff, as well as not very fond of dForce and hierarchical presets most of the Newly Mad items are a pass, so no discount keys for me.
However I did pick up a few of Lisa B's plants that don't have over at the other store on sale.
I ended up buying one of the new prodcuts at 20% discount (but it was 30% because I bought something else and I wanted the gift card). Now I could get 30% / 40% off because they are messing with the discounts. I am pleasted about this change, don't get me wrong, but I feel that this is a very bad time to be experimenting with long-established patterns.
I know we aren't entitled to discounts, and I know it's our choice to buy or not, but even if there isn't a right, there is an expectation that introductory discounts on new items do not change in either direction. Change this, and you will end up annoying people. It's not the right time to be experimenting with this stuff.
I note the OOT hair in my wishlist that was added at 30% is still stuck on 20%.
But why would I pay more for it as a result of all this messing about?
I'll tell you if I get that reimbursement. Not holding my breath, but it's only one item, so I'm not too bothered. But it could have been very different...
It's the scattergun approach that just makes no sense to me......
January... Get Interactive Licenses for $10 each
February... Get Interactive Licenses all month long $15 each
March 2nd.... WOW Buy 3 new products (spin yourself round 720 degrees and shout "Bangalore" to a sparrow) and you can get 3 Interactive Licenses for $15 each (but...but.. why not at least give me a few days at full price so I can adjust)
March 9th ... I only need to buy 3+ March Items (don't forget to scream "Wonowon", pour lightly warmed milk over the third toe on your left foot) and I can get 5 Interactive Licenses for $20 each
