I'm only a 5-year DAZ Studio user. I find it sad looking at my order history.
I understand why the price increased but I'm sure DAZ and the PA would also realize why some customers are not buying.
I bought 2 grab bags today but having trouble downloading them
maybe they are overwhelmed by customers![devil devil](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/devil_smile.png)
Its an addiction for sure,
the attitude I have gotten from some PAs on social media calling me a hater and all forum users toxic really makes me wonder why I am still addicted though![crying crying](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/cry_smile.png)
I don't want to know how much I spent in MM last year because it will be shameful.
It's definitely an addition, and that was because of the clever marketing. I recognised it last summer and started using the gift cards. I would buy the first one on offer after I'm paid, and only buy another when it runs out. Not allowed to buy one before I get paid again. But then you hit the problem that it's so easy to spend money on them. At least the spending is limited though. I still spent too much..
I was never addicted to Rendo, because they never used that style of marketing. Now Daz is trying to pretend they still do it, but they don't really, so I feel cured. Both stores are the same now, except Daz is more expensive without discounts, and because I have bought so much stuff, it's harder to find things I want now. And not only that, the quality at Rendo has improved a lot, especially as some of my favourite PAs have "defected" or sell in both stores.
Still sad about MM though. Maybe I shouldn't be.
Hmm. seeing my spending to this point this year & last (1 Jan to 7 March): This year $69.39c, last year $74.60c. So marginally less spend (by a barely significant amount) with the new higher prices. A few less items purchased this year. I suspect my current funds will be ring-fenced until the next UltraScenery addon is released.
Regards,
Richard.
what I said earlier about the hardware divide?
well that Korean BBQ is totally unuseable on my rig,
it crashed DAZ studio trying to use fillament and is maxing my VRAM in Twinmotion in low rez mode and using 23GB of RAM
I might be able to use some props if I am lucky
It is likely some of the texture files are way bigger than they need to be, maybe some 4K maps for some tiny props maybe. If you can reduce the size of these it should become more usuable, but I understand that it is a pain to have to do this yourself after buying a product.
I read quite a lot in DAZ forum, also your comments, so reading what you just told us here gives me the impression, that it might be the other way: those PAs seem to act like haters. Just ignore them, you definately aren't such a person!
I say too much
and find fault
I did get that Korean BBQ full set useable in Twinmotion at least, only to discover the unleavable fully stocked kitchen![cheeky cheeky](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tongue_smile.png)
maybe one needs a section plane on the other side of the door that is in the dining area but does not penetrate the double wall![enlightened enlightened](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/lightbulb.png)
https://www.daz3d.com/scene-optimizer
There is a product by V3Digitimes called Scene Optimizer. Grab it if you can. It lets you reduce texture sizes and so, so much more. Even sets that are so big they can slow down my viewport can be made useable with this product. I love it and use it habitually even when I don't "need" it.
As far as March Madness goes, I've barely spent anything. 20% discounts are a joke in normal times, they're worse in March Madness. I've only grabbed stuff on days I can make it work and felt dirty doing it to be honest.
I have and use it but I think this is heavy overall
I somehow missed the signup for March Madness ... I'll see if I can rememdy that and get some of my characters some kind of discount.
New release prices, we PAs have no control over. I'd personally offer it lower right now- economy is rough as heck, jobs in turmoil, so many things... but I'm not in control of that. I CAN see about getting my older stuff at least on sale for everyone, and hope you all keep your eyes open for the new things I have coming out soon. <3 Hope there's plenty to love this March Madness, we all need some cheer and hope.
DD
well, key item for $112 for a 10% discount is pretty ridiculous actually. In the past it would be an item way less than $10.
The KOrean Street/BBQ has been in my wishlist since it came out. Its in my cart now, but after reading and seeing , I think I'm going to pass on it. That image by WendyLuvsKatz texturing looks terrible. flat. I've notice since DS 4.20, my renders are taking longer than previous versions, so don;t need anything too top heavy
that is in Twinmotion without lighting set up and only diffuse maps so don't judge it by that
Why would you even consider buying a key item you didn't already have, and weren't consdiering buying, to get an extra discount? The key item rewards those who have purchased previously and might just edge someone who was havering to a buy decision - I doubt there's any intent or expectation that people would regard it as something they had to get just to earn the extra discount
ok it has occurred to me the wall might have a cutout opacity map for the doors, they don't import into Twinmotion
since Filament crashed I never looked in studio
I am so pleased you posted because I hadn't seen your characters. Saga is beautiful and I am going to buy her!
Was just looking at last year's order history (Daz had $175 of my money already; this month it's gotten $0 still). There was a great sale (March 6th) on hairs with prices as low as $2.54 each. That was enough 'blood in the water' to get the old buying frenzy in me going, and I snapped up a couple of environments and sets, a nice collection of props by SilvaAnt3d, KindredArts's Ghost Dynamics... a total of eighteen items, anywhere from 69% to 91% off. I spent over eighty dollars on that day alone.
As others have noted, it seems that this year's sale lacks that 'hook' to pull people in. Daz used to be exceptionally good at this, almost diabolically so.
I don't want to be cynical. I enjoyed last year's PC+ Sale, and the discounts in December were much appreciated. Maybe this is a blip, a mistake, a gamble, and the disappointing sales that result will make Daz reconsider their marketing for 2022.
I don't blame the PAs at all. I blame whoever at Daz decided this is the time to essentially raise prices. Also, your products are great and I look forward to seeing the new stuff!
I guess they finally got the hint and are offering a gift card sale albeit with a 2 item buy in...
I know the mods are here to moderate US but I wonder if they ever let DAZ know how the customers feel? And I wonder if any actual employee from DAZ ever reads these forums? If I had a large company like this, I’d definitely want to know what the customers are thinking. I mean it’s market research. They should be not only reading the forums but responding publicly to customers concerns.
I'd also like to say I don't blame the PAs.
And as @Wonderland said, there is now a gift card sale. 15% if I buy the two Daz+ items that went on my wishlist recently. Have they done "buy new items" as a condition before? Must admit I haven't paid much attention.
I'm at my PC at the moment, don't have the phone with me, mustn't forget to check out again!
That's so sweet, thank you. Will run and check out your characters right away!
I'm done with the "sale". I'm not reading any of the "bargain" offers. This frustration and disappointment every day just isn't worth it. I'm going to get MD for a couple of months and learn how to make my own 3D clothes.
And then only 15% discount. The way the sale is going I'm not sure I'll even bother to get a gift card. I may not need it.
Thank you so much! I haven't done much in the past year due to ...well, the general world upheaval. But more is coming. I can't control sales but I'll my best :)
Appreciate it! I'm experimenting between G8 and G8.1 and both or either and PBR and other... so hopefully the others will also be welcome.
Hopefully I can get a sale on them *crosses fingers* :) I try to put something unique into each of them! Eyes or tattoo or flair of some kind.
I'm not very good at advertising or doing anything social so please take from me sincerely, thanks for looking, sales or not! And let's all hope there's a lot of good releases and deals this month for everyone, that'd be a win win!
Given the huge change in discounting for the MM sale compared to last year, it is inconcievable that DAZ did not anticipate this wave of unhappiness in the forums, so I am sure they both know, and were expecting it.
However, as we have been told before, they will be watching the sale figures much more closely than what people in here are saying.
Now I also found your Anchors Aweigh outfit, it's awesome! Went to the top of my wishlist. I love retro clothes!
A lot worth thinking about in here. I always kind of wondered why I'd be checking the DAZ site like, a dozen times a day during big sales, and Rendo basically once a day, if that, even if they were having major sales. Of course, there's the flash sales, being the obvious reason, but there's really much, much more marketing in the background that one never quite notices I think.
Oh, and also - the forums. I never learned as much anywhere on the internet as I learned here.![heart heart](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/heart.png)
Can't take much credit on the clothes- They are a creation by the talented Lyrra with textures by Sade and altered/set up by myself and others, and fabulous poses from the fabulous FeralFey. Hope you can get and enjoy it. The promos were a blast.
Thanks for the shout out, D.D. It was a lot of fun working on that project together. Fingers crossed that your new character does well. She's really well done and I know you put a lot of work into making her. You always put in such wonderful extras into your characters. I love using them in my artwork.
Incidentally you'll see more from me and from Lyrra Madril coming later.
As for the March Madness, I can appreciate the disappointment. But I know that Daz is retooling the sales schema and while it seems inopportune to monkey with it during a big annual sales event at Daz, I trust that they're looking at the numbers and will come up with a happy medium for everyone involved.
