But seeing as they've cut the discount from 30% to 20% that has made my mind up for me. No sale.

Well that's not very nice of them.

I thought todays Mad March offerings were quite funny. After I nearly fell asleep with the usual and not useful sexy girl offerings, I found one item on my wishlist which I decided to remove. So $0 spent on the main sale again.

However in the mad artist section I found 15 items for a total of $14.88, so today my mad march wasn't $3.99 per item, or $2.99 per item it was less than $1 per item.

    Mad.

...figured out a "backdoor" way to pull up the inexpensive  Aiko3 items that I don't have yet by selecting "A3" in the Figures filter (instead of going through each teatured artist's store or using hte broken search routine), and then setting the page sort "Low to High".

That's the price you pay these days if you're too slow. I was too slow on some hair because I didn't have a gift card. Then they reduced the discount, so I didn't buy it at all. If they'd left it alone, then I'd have spent some money. Still, they are making this much easier for me now with other things they're choosing to do.

There is free stuff in there but I don't even get those. A lot of the old stuff doesn't work very well to where it's not worth what you paid for it. (I hope you all got that). A lot of the $1 items are too toony. Cutting edge stuff in it's day, though. I'm becoming an irrelevant old relic myself, the girls want the modern versions. :p

i still dont know how to indentify the select items to get an extra, 10,20, or 30% off in the MAD ARTIST sections.

Not just UltaSceneryXT. ALL releases from the last two weeks (except for the last couple of days' worth) have had their intro discounts cut to 20%.

They've been doing that ever since they reinstated the 30% discount on the release day. I don't follow the logic It seems more likely to prevent sales than encourage them. It feels like every little percentage is offered begridgingly.

I don't have any hard evidence, but I don't think even the 20% lasts as long as the 30% used to.

I don't see any way to do this in the Mad Artist listings. I've tried putting items in my cart, but there is no further discount. If DAZ is going to do a category sale like this, you would think there would be a listing for the products in the age range they are advertising. Or do I have to look at each product to see what the release date was? Legacy stuff I would assume V4, etc, but that doesn not yield any extra discounting.

An example is the many animation packs which appear in practically every flash sale (and were before MM started, I believe). I'm hoping that the DAZ desire to sell off as many of those animations as possible is an indication that a new animation system is being developed.

Or more a case of what price they'll actually sell at, as they're badly overpriced for the little that's in them.  As for a new animation system... there are so many other improvements that need to be done with DAZ Studio itself before it would even begin to be competitive, not the least of which are soft-body physics, cutting the ridiculously huge size of so many newer DAZ products, and, as of the last time I checked... and I'll admit that has been a while... the fact that DS doesn't support motion blur in Iray, which means going back to 3DL rendering, which is being increasingly less supported here.

maybe your DAZ+ doesn't count as per the new trend with these non staking discounts because try A3 things I did see discounts but still couldn't afford any devil

That would require someone who understands the product library actually thinking about ads and reviewing them in advance instead of waiting for midnight on the D.O.P. and then coming back to fix the worst problems later.

You don't have to add them to cart, the discounts are visible directly. First cat is 40%, next 46% followed by 52% and 58% the highest. for non DOs.

Yeah, I'm kind of glad I went a bit crazy for the last few years trying to buy up all of the older stuff I wanted before the PAs disappeared, as the store I used to love is almost unrecognizable now.

  • Hey so I promised I'd try to wrangle up a sale or discount or something since I was late to the March Madness stuff and my character release was only 20%....

So today, there's a bunch of my characters in the grab bag! Please enjoy :) I know there's a ton of world stress and uncertainity right now. Hugs and Peace!

Please don't hate me, but to be fair, it's not Daz's obligation to lower their prices to the level we can afford them because we have no money due to one thing or another. I wouldn't go into a store and complain that the bread costs too much because I have no money to pay for it. I'd just leave it in the store - like I do here most of the time now. I just don't buy ;).

    ????

I don't hate you. I just don't think you're thinking about it clearly. If a company has customers that can't afford the products, then the company has a PROBLEM!

When you walk out that door with your money in your pocket, the company loses too.

difference is nobody needs DAZ content to live wink

To be fair, some of us actually do. My business is based around Daz content, and I pay our mortgage and buy our food from it. I only buy very high quality HD items, so all of the older stuff is of no use to me. Everything I buy has to pay for itself, and (as I said in the questionnaire) if I buy a $40 outfit I'd better be able to wear it myself. :D

    +1

Daz is my business partner too.

My animated sequences in Daz and even when I render in animations in Blender, I don't render with the motion blur on because then you're locked in to the render, I'd rather have a clean plate. What I do is in After Effects, I apply pixel motion blur to my shots and I have control of how much blur is in the image sequence.

@benniewoodell I know this is OT for this thread so I'll keep the point short and you can think about it. I have watched your YouTube tutorial on using Diffeo to send your scenes to Blender for animation but I am wondering if you have mastered the animation (simulation) of clothing on the character in Blender? If so, perhaps you could share with us in a new video. If there's a discussion to be had on this I'm happy to split this off into its own thread.

I guess everyone's mad March is different. For example I have no interest in toon stuff so I never even look at those items. I also have Carrara which works fab with gen 4 backwards. It renders best with the octane plugin so I am used to fiddling with shaders a bit to convert each item for octane. When it comes to old daz assets for daz Iray then yes you are right some work is required and that is reflected in the price. The thing is I find more variety in the older stuff, especially for historical animations, whereas the newer stuff seems to involve sexy wear for girls a lot. Ok for a nightclub scene but it gets pretty samey after that.

It's pretty much what I go for. It's all my fault! But I already have most of it...

Should be no problem to find 10+ in catch-up whereas I miss the 10-items-threshold on a regular days. With newly mad & still mad I will wait for those new Zev0 and RiverSoft releases if they'll make it in the next days.

With all the other categories I do not even bother. PA catalog discounts are not as good as Flash Sales even for pretty old items.

If MM follows historical patterns, it may continue for an extra week in April.

You've very unintentionally made be feel angry by saying that, by agreeing 100% with everything I think. Only a little bit smiley

It confirms that it's not just me that feels that flash sales are the only good PA sales. And you may know why that will annoy me, or maybe not...
